Hall of Fame: Marquee Induction

Hulk Hogan


The members of The Wrestling Forum value wrestling ability over all else. That can be the ONLY reason it has taken so long for the Hulkster to take his rightful place amongst the sports elite because, after six years, the most recognisable wrestler of all time has finally been inducted into the TWF Hall of Fame.

Its not hard to see why he's worthy of being the Marquee induction either. For almost two decades Hulk Hogan WAS wrestling. With his massive charisma and even more massive stature Hogan helped Vince McMahon and the WWF transform wrestling from a niche product that was splitered into territories into a mainstream brand of entertainment for the masses. Hogans all American hero led the good fight against foreign invaders and the all round bad guys and his appeal helped turn WWE into the all conquering juggernaught it is today. He was the spearhead of the "Rock 'N' Wrestling" era of the eighties, was still a massive draw for the early ninties and when he did eventually turn his back on the fans he was instrumental in creating the biggest storyline in wrestling history - The New World Order... A storyline that was SO big that it drew 40,000 people to a weekly TV show with just a few days promotion and almost put the World Wrestling Federation out of business.

Whether bodyslamming Andre the Giant, being Jackhammered by Goldberg or taking part in a test of strength with the Ultimate Warrior, Hogan has a place in some of the most iconic moments in wrestling history and some would argue that he's the only man that any major company has ever succesfully used as a building block too. He built the WWF and when he went to WCW they overthrew WWF as the biggest company in the game... is it any real suprise that TNA have him on their books?

People may knock his wrestling ability, but you simply can't question the effect that Hulk Hogan has had on the buisness - whether he's Hollywood or not, he truly is Immortal!
