TWF Super Cup: The Unseeded!
By: TWF Dave | Posted: 06/05/12

I've already spoken about the sixteen seeded competitors in the TWF Super Cup, the AllStar Seeds Here and the Legendary Seeds here but that still leaves fourty-eight other participants, all of whome bring something to the table and many of which could be dark horses to win the entire competition.

Here are my picks for the top eight unseeded participants that could well go on to win the entire tournament.

8. Austin Aries
OK, so he's a massive outsider to win the entire thing but right now Austin Aries is the hottest thing in TNA and probably the best example of the smaller guy using the high-workrate style in the business. I think he'll do better than many would first think and I wouldn't be suprised to see him in a quarter final spot.

7. Owen Hart
This is going to be slightly contentious, but I don't rate Owen Hart as one of the all time greats. No, really I don't. His career was cut tragically short and he may well have gone on to be one of the best ever, but at the time of his death he certainly hadn't earned that level of prestige in my eyes. That said, I know many TWFers think Owen Hart wrestling is one of the greatest things since sliced bread and that's my reason for including him here. With a good draw he could well make the quarter finals.

6. Roddy Piper
A classic performer from the golden age of wrestling that, upon appearing on WWE TV, is still relevant today? Why that would be Rowdy Roddy Piper! No matter how much he ages his abilitys on the stick are still something to behold. The fact that he's remembered for one of the most infamous segments in WWF history (coconut!) and featured in the main-event of Wrestlemania one are only a few of the reasons why this man should do well.

5. Ted Dibiase
"The Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase is perhaps one of the best remembered characters of all time and took part in some of the best remembered wrestling segments of all time. That's just a fact. Another fact is that Dibiase was also an exeptional wrestler at a time that wrestling was more about looks than talent. I expect a round three appearance at the very least.

4. John Cena
It seems that for all the kids that like Cena, there are just as many adults that don't and just as many adults again that have a grudging respect for him. He's responsible for bad comedy and some really terrible wrestling but when it comes down to it, Cena loves the business through and through. He's this generations Hulk Hogan (a guy that isn't even in the tournament!) and for that reason alone we should recognise that he has the potential to win it.

3. Sting
Mr WCW, a parenial star of TNA and the greatest modern day wrestler to never set foot in a WWE ring. Sting has a legacy that should see him do extremely well in this tournament situation whether seeded or not... and if he does begin to struggle he could always call in Robocop!

2. The Dynamite Kid
If you placed The Dynamite Kid in his prime inside a ring with AJ Styles, who would put on the better show? Who would you have win? The Dynamite Kid was X-Division fifteen-plus years before the concept had even been concieved. Going back through the history books he's perhaps the one single performer that I'd pick out as undoubtedly being ahead of his time and was truly an exceptional talent. You never know, depending on how the brackets are drawn you may well have to answer those questions somewhere down the line...

Kurt Angle - The fifth best wrestler of all time and not even seeded!

1. Kurt Angle
If I had to pick just one winner from the sixty-four participants in this years Super Cup, I'd pick this one. Kurt Angle is a definate TWF favourite, his unmatched blend of intensity, athleticism and out and out wrestling ability is unmatched by any of his modern day peers and he'll put on a match of the year contender against just about anyone you care to put him in the ring with.

The irony of him being unseeded is that if he had already retired, he'd undoubtedly already be in the TWF Hall of Fame and qualified as the #5 Legendary Seed due to him being voted the fifth greatest wrestler of all time just last year!
