Thoughts on the Hogan/Twitter debacle
By Dangerous Dave

Yesterday an "unknown" tweeter caused massive embarrasment to Dixie Carter, Eric Bishcoff and TNA in general by convincing people that he was the real Hulk Hogan. A lot of new sites watered down what was said but...

I was online as this happened (I know, me online, weird huh?!) and frankly this was a BIG deal on Twitter. The fact is that Eric Bischoff had previously verified this account as REAL and even Hulks son- NICK HOGAN -was following this account. Up until the point where it announced that Bischoff and Hogan were leaving -

"I know you’ve heard rumors brothers and they are true. Eric and I are leaving TNA on a mutual basis. I just got out of meetings now. It was really fun but time to move on.TNA has a new leadership coming in. Make sure you Hulkamaniacs still support them. TNA needs the power of Hulkamania to live on brothers."

- it was full of generic Hogan style stuff about "making an appearance here and its a big Impact this week" and so on- It was only after the announcement was made that both Eric Bischoff AND Dixie Carter Tweeted that this was a fake account... and very quickly too I might add.

A short while after Dixie & Eric told people this wasn't real despite earlier directing people towards it as the REAL Hulk Hogan account, the tweeter started ripping into Bischoff and, to a lesser extent, Dixie Carter. Claiming that he made them believe the account was real because he in fact worked for TNA and was part of a group of disgruntled wrestlers in the back, and that because nobody would listen to the wrestlers as to what direction to take the company and that this was the only way to be heard without fearing for his job-

"@EBischoff GOT WORKED BROTHERS! He publishes information before even verifying its accuracy. How can someone like this even try to run TNA?!

That piece of shit @BTLSRadio GOT WORKED TOO!

This one was for the INTERNET WRESTLING COMMUNITY! Beat us if you can, survive if we let you!

How I got this to work: Well, here's the truth and honestly the truth, I work for TNA and am a current employee.

TNA doesn't listen to any of us backstage. We're not allowed to step on anyones toes.

So I thought this would be the best way to express my true thoughts.

I hate Bischoff. I don't hate Hogan, but I don't see him helping TNA, he's just taking money. So let us do what we do best..

And that's to provide true TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION WRESTLING. @TNADixie, this is a shoot brother. We want @EBischoff OUT!

Hogan and Bischoff always play up how we're a happy family backstage. But that's far from it. We get paid shit.

Some of us were paid better in 2006, no lies.

Some of us got our eyes on a new wrestling company coming up in Florida and you know what, if it doesn't have @EBischoff's name, it's a draw"

-Now, for me this creates some big questions:

1. Was this in fact a cover-up? Apparently Hogan & Bischoffs original contracts are up very soon, did the Hulkster let the cat out of the bag too early and was everything after that TNA trying to keep things from the media? I just don't see how Dixie Carter, Eric Bischoff and even NICK HOGAN - HIS OWN SON could all have been fooled into following a fake account, let alone be convinced enough to announce it as real!

2. Was this genuinely a disgruntled TNA employee? Its not too hard to imagine that Hogan probably isn't the brightest with technology, if he left himself logged in or a password written somewhere, or even used a work PC to save a password then it wouldn't be too hard for somebody with a modicum of computer knowledge to log in to his account. Of course if this was a TNA employee this then begs the question as to just how badly is TNA falling apart backstage? For an employee to go to such lengths just to get his (or her) voice heard surely suggests that things JUST AREN'T WORKING?

Of course another explanation is that this was all the work of some smark-arse sitting in his bedroom somewhere stirring the pot, but that would mean that Hogans closest friend and even his own son were fooled. This is the most unlikely option as far as I can see.

Lets face it, whoever actually made those tweets has not only embarrassed Dixe Carter and Eric Bischoff but has created a BIG talking point for the internet fans. So whats the best course of action?

Well if I were in charge, besides having a very quiet backstage inquiry as to who this might have been, I'd turn this into an angle. I'd use this to my advantage to push a group of people that are genuinely talented but underused. But they'd need a leader, a spokes person, and who better to do that than the one man that has been underutilised since the Hogan administration arrived and, though not actually part of TNA anymore is still on their roster page on the TNA Website? Anybody that watched TNA at any point wants CHRISTOPHER DANIELS back on the roster, this is the IDEAL opportunity to work a new spin on the old vs new angle and Daniels is the most believable antagonist.

By doing this they turn an embarrassment into an angle and give the fans what they want too.

What do you think?
